The balance is wonderful (coming from a person who has complained to bigger Theater chains for their subpar sound balance and lacking acoustics). The sound quality in both the upstairs and downstairs showrooms is top notch. When they renovated the whole Theater prior to reopening it, they preserved various historic elements, as well as honouring others through pictures and memorabilia. The Lory Theater in Highland, IL is by far the best in the area of local theatres. I am by no means a connoisseur of movie theatres, but I have had to opportunity to visit many, “hole in the wall,” local theatres and enjoy a good movie. (There are exceptions though and switching screens last minute is occasionally necessary with surprise hits) We also have several ways to let our customers know which showtimes will be on what screen. ![]() As a general rule the newest film will be downstairs because it has more seats, so coming during the opening week will usually solve the upstairs issue. The rest of the building is entirely wheelchair accessible and we have equipment available for the hearing impaired as well.
